Non destructive Control tool for wood traceability
نویسندگان
چکیده
The concept of traceability is defined according to the standard ISO 8402 like “the ability for the retrieval of the history and use or location of an article or an activity through a registered identification”. Their implementation in the wood industry is delayed because of the limits of classical automatic identification systems in regard to the nature of wood and the features of the manufacturing processes. This paper presents a new solution for the wood products identification. This is a biometrics approach through the use of a non-destructive technique. With this approach, the assumption is made that each product is unique with unique measurable characteristics. The microwaves sensor used to acquire the intrinsic signature of a piece is presented as well as the methodology for the identification.

Non-destructive geographical traceability of sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) using near infrared spectroscopy combined with chemometric methods
Sea cucumber is the major tonic seafood worldwide, and geographical origin traceability is an important part of its quality and safety control. In this work, a non-destructive method for origin traceability of sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) from northern China Sea and East China Sea using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and multivariate analysis methods was proposed. Total fat contents...
متن کاملApplication of Near Infrared Spectroscopy to Preservative-Treated Wood
Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is now a widely-used technique in the field of forest products, especially for physical and mechanical property determinations. This technique is also ideal for the chemical analysis of wood. There has been a growing need to find a rapid, inexpensive and reliable method to distinguish between preservative-treated and untreated waste wood. It has been demonstrate...
متن کاملWood Tracking Information Systems to Confront Illegal Logging
This paper examines the current wood tracking information systems used in international wood trade aiming to prevent and control illegally logged timber and wood products trade. Moreover, innovative log tracking mechanisms and technologies are also described and assessed. Wood tracking can add value to the wood product, by establishing an information system aiming to recognize and locate legal ...
متن کاملTransmitted vibrations to the wrist and arm of a chainsaw operator: The effect of wood cutting process
Introduction: Due to the non-developed mechanization situation, chainsaw is a widely used tool in Iranian forests. This tool can trigger unwelcome disorders (e.g., white finger syndrome) due to the transmitted vibrations from its handle to the body members. Characterizing these vibrations can result in minimizing the intensity of these disorders. This study aims to investigate the effect of dif...
متن کاملGenetics of Eucalyptus wood properties
Traditional methods of assessing wood properties are both destructive and expensive, limiting the numbers of samples that can be processed. Over the past decade, non-destructive sampling techniques and new assessment methods have been developed leading to a large increase in the numbers of trees and traits that can be evaluated. This technology has enabled the assessment of progeny trials to de...
